Orchestra Materials

 

INFORMATION

All students that register will have a STRING LESSON once a cycle, and also be part of ORCHESTRA

String Lessons

Small group instruction that teaches students how to play their instruments, as well as skills and techniques

·         String Lessons meet during the school day, every day 1, for the entire school year

·         Lesson times rotate each cycle so students do not miss the same class each week

·         Lessons start during the second cycle of school

Orchestra Rehearsals

Large group instruction that prepares the students for the Winter and/or Spring Concerts

·         Meet before school on Day 1

o    Drop off begins at 8:15am and rehearsals go until 9:00am

·         2 performing groups:

o    ENCORE Orchestra 

§  Includes students that have played their instrument for at least one full year

§  Students perform in the Winter and Spring Concert

§  Rehearsals start during the 3rd cycle of school

o    PRELUDE Orchestra -

§  Includes all beginner students and ALL students in 3rd grade

§  Students perform in the Spring Concert

§  Rehearsals start in January

STRING SUPPLIED NEEDED

·         Violin & Viola

·         Book: Essential Elements for Strings (Violin or Viola Book 1)

·         Sponge or Shoulder Rest

·         Rosin (should be included with your rental)

·         Optional: Music Stand (for home practice)

Cello

·         Book: Essential Elements for Strings, Cello Book 1

·         Rock Stop

·         Rosin (should be included with your rental)

·         Optional: Music Stand (for home practice)
